Alberta Health Care Aide Registration Examination

New graduates from Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) programs and certain other applicant groups are required to successfully complete the Alberta HCA Registration Examination (AHRE) in order to move to the CLHA General Register.

Alberta Provincial HCA Exam

Prior to the AHRE, the Government of Alberta Provincial HCA Exam provided a standardized assessment to determine HCA students’ success in meeting the entry to practice competencies.

Below are previous statistics for the Provincial HCA Exam for each of the HCA post-secondary educational institutions licensed in Alberta at the time. The document includes the average pass rates of first-time writers and the number of exam writers for each licensed HCA program.
