HCAs encounter medical terms every day, whether they are reading client care plans or communicating with other healthcare team members, clients and families. Knowing how to use medical terms correctly also helps prevent errors and maintain accurate documentation.

HCAs will develop their ability to recognize common medical terms and the difference between prefixes, combining forms, root words, and suffixes. HCAs will also explore common anatomy terms and common disease terminology used to describe the human body and its systems.
