Overview

This module explores the topic of medication assistance for Health Care Aides (HCAs). The content of this module aligns with the HCA Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and the HCA Medication Assistance Policy. The HCA is responsible for ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and competence for safe practice, and for complying with employer requirements when providing client care.

Medication assistance is a critical responsibility of the HCA and plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective client care. Many clients rely on medications to manage health conditions, relieve symptoms, and maintain their overall health and quality of life. HCAs assist with medications within their scope of practice, within their individual competence, and according to employer and regulatory policies.
