Overview

Health Care Aides are educated to maintain professional boundaries and treat their clients with respect and professionalism. To protect clients, Alberta’s legislation provides health professionals with clear definitions of behaviours that constitute sexual misconduct or sexual abuse.

This self-study module, Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct, is designed to provide HCAs with an understanding of this legislation and related Standards of Practice for HCAs on Professional Boundaries and Standards of Practice for HCAs on Sexual Abuse, Sexual Misconduct and Female Genital Mutilation.

CLHA is required to provide this mandatory training as per the Health Professions Act (HPA) and in alignment with CLHA’s Patient Relations Program.
