Complete Registration Form by April 30

Guidance for Health Care Aides

The first Registration Renewal for Health Care Aides (HCAs) opens February 9. HCAs can complete the renewal form through their MyCLHA accounts between February 9 and April 30, 2026.

Prepare for Renewal

The following steps will help you prepare for renewal.

1. Make sure you have your email address and password to login to MyCLHA. This will be the same email and password you used to log in to the HCA Directory.

Note that staff do not have access to your password. If you forget your password, you will have to complete the password reset instructions on the login page. If you no longer have access to the email you used last year, please contact the CLHA.

2. Make sure that your payment information is available. HCAs will need to pay $140 for their permit and approximately $50 to an external professional liability insurance provider. A credit card is required to pay through the online account.

You can pay for your permit with cash or a debit card in-person in our Edmonton office. This option is available by appointment only.

3. Make sure you get our emails. We may email you about renewal using the following addresses:

      • hcarenewal@clha.com
      • info@clha.com

Consider adding us to your contacts and remember to check your junk mail!

» Obtain Professional Liability Insurance

HCAs must obtain insurance separate from registration renewal fees. On page two of the My Profile section, you can select your option for obtaining the required insurance. If you are planning on purchasing insurance through Navacord, click Yes to be taken through the Navacord insurance process. When you are finished, a copy of your proof of insurance will be provided directly to the CLHA.

If you have chosen an alternate insurer, please upload a copy of your documents in this section.

Employer Information

Under the Employer Information section, you can update your employment status. If you state that you are employed, you must list at least one employer. It is important for the CLHA to have your employer information. Employment and retirement information is also collected for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) to support workforce planning and other reporting.

Methods of Care

Under “Methods of Care,” tell us how you most often interact with clients in your primary practice setting. Choose the answer that fits the best.

» Payment

You may be able to pay at this time. However, if your renewal form needs to be reviewed by the CLHA, you will need to wait until you receive an email that tells you when you can pay.

It is always good to check your junk mail and to login periodically in case an email might have been missed.
