Free module will support Health Care Aides in understanding an important standard for regulated professionals
HCAs will be required to complete the CLHA module, Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct for HCAs, by November 30, 2026.
This module is completed through the CLHA’s Learning Management System, which can be accessed through your MyCLHA account.
Understand Your Professional Responsibilities
To protect public safety, Alberta’s legislation provides clear definitions of behaviours that constitute sexual misconduct or sexual abuse. The Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct for HCAs module provides HCAs with an understanding of this legislation and related standards and guidelines.
Learn at Your Own Pace
This module is self-paced, and you can start and pause the learning as needed. On average, it will take two to three hours to complete. .
When you have finished the final exam for the learning module, proof of completion will show on your MyCLHA account. You can verify that you have successfully completed the module on your dashboard under “Exams.” It will show as “HCA Protecting Patients” and “Passed.”
How to Complete the Module: Step-By-Step Guide
Accessing the Module
To access the CLHA modules, please do the following:
- Go to the CLHA Website
- Log in to your myCLHA account using your CLHA username (email) and password.
- Once logged in, select the “Learning Modules” link near the bottom of the menu on the left-hand side.
- Select the selfstudy.clha.com link to enter the CLHA Learning Management System (LMS).
This will take you to the Home page of the CLHA’s LMS.
- Select Dashboard at the top left of the screen to see your completed courses and courses you have recently accessed.
- Select My Courses at the top left of the screen to see the courses you are currently enrolled in.
To enroll in a module:
- From the Home page of the LMS, select the link to view either the LPN or the HCA learning modules.
- Select the image/link for the Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct for HCAs learning module.
- Select “Enroll me” to open the module.
Completing the Module
- Complete the learning module..
- Successfully complete the final exam.
- Proof of completion will also be shown in your exam list on the main page of your MyCLHA account.
Verifying Completion of the Module
- Log in to MyCLHA.com.
Once you have successfully passed the learning module exam, it will show in your exam list as “Passed” and the date. Results will show within 24 hours. If results are not showing within 24 hours, please contact the Professional Development Team.
