HCA Subject Matter Experts Needed for Exam Development

The College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) is looking for Health Care Aide (HCA) subject matter experts to help develop the Alberta Health Care Aide Registration Exam.

Exam Writing Sessions

Selected participants will help write and review exam questions based on the new HCA Entry-Level Competencies, standards of practice, Code of Ethics, and updated HCA curriculum under the new regulation.

  • June 15–19
  • June 22–26

Standard Setting Sessions

Selected participants will review and approve new exam questions and help determine how difficult each question should be.

  • October 15–19
  • October 26–30

Who Should Apply

We welcome interest from people with experience in HCA education or practice, including:

  • HCAs
  • Educators
  • Employers or supervisors
  • Others involved in HCA training or regulation

Participation from different parts of the HCA sector helps ensure the exam reflects real-world practice.

How to Apply

If you consider yourself a subject matter expert and can attend a full-week session in person at the CLHA office in Edmonton, please complete the survey and tell us about your experience.

After the survey closes, selected participants will be contacted by email.
