Help Shape LPN and HCA Education in Alberta
The College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) is seeking members for its Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC).
This committee brings together LPNs, HCAs, educators and other professionals with relevant experience to provide recommendations that support high-quality education for practical nurses and health care aides in Alberta.
ESAC reviews information about PN and HCA education programs and makes recommendations to the CLHA Council regarding program approval and monitoring. Members may also contribute to the development of standards that are used to evaluate educational programs.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who can bring different perspectives and experience to the committee, for the following positions:
- LPN registrants
- HCA registrants
- Nurse educators
- HCA educators
- Members-at-large with relevant experience or expertise (please see application for experience requirements)
Eligibility requirements vary by membership category. Relevant experience may include nursing or HCA practice and education, program approval or accreditation, healthcare regulation, patient safety or simulation instruction.
What is the commitment?
ESAC meetings occur four times per year, which include 2 in-person meetings held at our Edmonton CLHA office. Additional meetings may be scheduled when required. Members are expected to review materials and prepare before meetings, with preparation time varying depending on the agenda.
Committee members may receive an honorarium and reimbursement for eligible expenses in accordance with CLHA policy. Appointments are for up to two years, with opportunities for reappointment.
