Pre-Authorized Debit Plan

Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) Plan for LPNs

The Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) plan allows Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to pay their annual registration fee in advance through automatic monthly withdrawals from their bank account.

The PAD plan is managed through MyCLHA, where registrants can sign up, cancel their subscription, update their banking information, and check their balance.

Please note: PAD sign-up is not available during the registration renewal period (September to November).

How PAD Works

PAD subscribers pay their registration renewal fee in advance through 10 monthly withdrawals, from January 1 to October 1.

  • Payments are automatically withdrawn on the first day of each month.
  • If the first falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the payment is withdrawn on the next business day.
  • The final payment is withdrawn in October.
  • Once enrolled, PAD payments continue automatically each year until the subscription is cancelled.

Example: If you sign up for PAD in December 2026, your payments throughout 2027 will go toward your 2028 registration renewal.

Important: Registration Renewal for PAD Subscribers

PAD does not automatically renew registration. All registrants must complete their annual registration renewal requirements by November 30.

Registrants enrolled in PAD can complete and submit their renewal form as soon as registration renewal opens, even if their final PAD payment has not yet been withdrawn.

The renewal invoice may show a balance owing until the final PAD payment has been processed in mid-October. The balance will automatically update once the payment is processed.

If all 10 PAD payments have been made, no additional payment is required. However, registrants who enrolled in PAD partway through the year may have a remaining balance that must be paid to complete their renewal.

Once the full registration fee has been paid and all renewal requirements are met, registrants will receive an email confirming their renewal is complete

LPNs who renew after October 31 are subject to a $200 fee increase. This also applies to PAD subscribers, even if all their monthly payments have been made.

New Subscribers

Registrants must have an Active practice permit to be eligible for PAD for the following registration year.

To sign up, log in to MyCLHA and select the “Sign up for PAD” tab.

Current Subscribers

Once enrolled, automatic withdrawals continue each year until the registrant cancels their PAD subscription through MyCLHA.

Subscribers can update their banking information at any time through MyCLHA.

Banking information should be updated before the 25th of the month for changes to take effect for the following month’s withdrawal. Changes made after the 25th may not be reflected in the next withdrawal.

If a withdrawal attempt is unsuccessful due to insufficient funds, a second automatic withdrawal will be attempted five banking days later.

If the withdrawal remains unsuccessful, a $60 payment is required ($35 PAD payment + $25 NSF fee) to remain on PAD. The CLHA will contact the registrant with payment instructions.

Registrants will automatically be removed from PAD if:

  • Their bank account is closed and they cannot be contacted.
  • They have two unsuccessful payments within a subscription year.

Registrants can cancel their PAD subscription through MyCLHA.

Any fees already paid will be refunded the following January unless an earlier refund is requested.

To request an earlier refund, email lpnregistration@clha.com and indicate that the PAD subscription has been cancelled and a refund is requested.

The amount withdrawn to date will be refunded, less a $25 administration fee.
